A creative exploration of the possibilities of green woodworking.
Combining the skills of traditional Windsor chair making, with techniques of free-form green wood furniture construction this course will enable you to design and develop a chair or other seat with a strong sculptural presence.
A chance to work with irregular shaped wood to create a visually stunning piece. This course is suitable for beginners, and also for people wishing to undertake more challenging projects. Please don’t feel that you have to be constrained in any way by the title – anything which is feasible in 6 days is acceptable.
For people wishing to use power tools and machines in their work, there is also the opportunity to use some of the powered equipment at the Devon Green Wood Centre. This is in line with my vision of using green woodworking in conjunction with modern methods of construction, and other materials in order to create a new kind of furniture with a warm organic feel, but entirely practical and suited to contemporary environments. This course runs from my beautiful workshop on the South Devon coast, not far from Plymouth.
