Accommodation

Accommodation in the area has changed dramatically over the past 20 months. Things are changing all the time but this is as up-to-date as possible. Please let us know if you find any of these places no longer operating. Book your accommodation early as it is getting booked up fast these days!

My workshop landlord runs a very fine holiday cottage business – with cottages 5 minutes walk from the workshop http://www.carswellcottages.com/ - they do book up well in advance though!

B+B’s and Camping/Glamping

Campervans are welcome at Great Prideaux Farm, about 10 minutes walk from the workshop. John is very relaxed and always gets good reviews from those who stay there.

http://www.flete.co.uk (Approximately 2.5 miles from the workshop) Bell tents are pitched in a nine-acre field just 5 minutes walk from the secluded Pamflete Beach. They all have the use of three hot showers, two compost loos and a cool kitchen housed in a horsebox, where there are four gas hobs and cool boxes with ice packs for each tent. Each tent will have its own BBQ and fire pit and inside, the tents have been kitted out with double beds, blankets and hot water bottles for comfort.

I have recently heard very good things about Plantation House in Ermington – excellent food! http://www.plantationhousehotel.co.uk/ (Approximately 6.5 miles from the workshop)

Cadleigh Manor at Ivybridge.   http://www.cadleigh.co.uk Dog friendly and people friendly too by all accounts. (Approximately 8.5 miles from the workshop)

AirBnB also has a couple of basic but nice things to offer in the area.  The caravan at Stoke Beach comes highly recommended.

Another AirBnb situated in Holbeton is Whitemoor Farm offering a choice of a self contained Annexe with private bathroom or a choice of 2 upstairs rooms which are more informal with a shared shower room. A healthy breakfast is provided and Tea making facilities. Guests comment how they have been very impressed with the host and the cleanliness.

If you don’t have transport, I live in Sparkwell and can drive you in from Sparkwell. Yealmpton and Holbeton are also en-route

http://www.welbeckmanor.co.uk/ in Sparkwell has just been taken under new ownership, it has been given a fabulous makeover and has plenty of rooms.

Another fine choice is a Local B & B in Holbeton. It has a choice of 1 double, or 1 single room with a shared bathroom with a shower. The cost is £75.00 for a couple, or £50.00 for one person. Evening meals can be provided with prior notice and at an additional cost. It is just a 6 minute drive to the beach, a 20 minute walk, or a 10 minute cycle to the Devon Greenwood Centre. Holbeton offers a lovely pub and a village shop. Bookings to laws072@hotmail.com or 07815 917519

South Devon Wild Camping A picturesque and tranquil option with a very friendly host. It’s a short drive from Mothecombe Beach and is nestled between Holbeton and Newton Ferrers.
