All our lamps are lovingly handmade in Devon using locally sourced and sustainable timber. Our wooden lamps are generally made to order. We do carry a small selection of lamps so please enquire about current stock, or click here to discuss commissioning. Delivery is usually around 8 weeks for commissioned pieces.
Each lamp is utterly unique, the stems following the natural lines of the tree. They echo nature, not geometry. The stems, subtle bends, and irregular surfaces mirror forms as we see in trees and landscapes. Our brains relax around these organic, non symmetrical shapes. They feel familiar. It’s the same reason a woodland path feels more inviting than a straight concrete corridor.
Each stem is cleaved” or split from a branch or trunk and then hand-worked using a range of traditional tools and techniques. No two lamps are identical, each one carries a sense of individuality. Small variations trigger interest without demanding attention. This kind of quiet complexity is deeply satisfying.
The cable is inserted using our magic powers, and the stems are then seasoned naturally. Mounted on a seasoned base, oiled to a fine silk lustre and wired with a lovely vintage-style ivory twisted and braided cable, this lamp will look great in either contemporary or vintage settings.
All our lamps are fitted with our unique real wood shades whose warm tones work perfectly with energy efficient bulbs. They diffuse light gently, removing glare and harsh contrast. Our lamps don’t just illuminate a room, they settle it.
Time spent shaping something by hand leaves a residue we subconsciously perceive. Slowness in a fast world is soothing. Our lamps feel alive, calm. They let material, light and form do the talking. Nothing forced.
