Lamp Chair
A whimsical take on the traditional country chair, with integral reading lamp. Lamps and chairs share some things in common, and are often used together. The idea for this piece came to me many years ago, but things sometimes take their own time. The perfect lamps stem a year or so ago, and the piece was finally realised in May. This particular chair was built around the notion of sitting and reading alone or to someone else – pulling up a chair next to a child’s bed.
This ladder back chair made using traditional green woodworking techniques from locally grown English oak with brown oak ladders and armrests. The seat is woven in a chequerboard style from seagrass.
